Curious by nature, creative by trade

In my mundane life, people call me Emily, but creatively, I go by Yayeko.

I’m a graphic designer with a BFA from Colorado Mesa University and a background rooted in branding, typography, printmaking, and visual storytelling. Over the years, my work has taken many forms, from co-owning a creative business and developing brands for educational institutions to collaborating with nonprofits and creating work centered around community.

My creative practice has continued to grow beyond traditional graphic design as I explore interactive design, digital experiences, and front-end development. I’m especially interested in the space where design and technology meet, and how the two can work together to create experiences that are not only visually thoughtful, but meaningful and intuitive.

I tend to find inspiration somewhere between the practical and the intuitive, allowing curiosity, connection, and meaning to shape the way I create. At the heart of it, I like making things with intention, whether they live on paper, on a screen, or somewhere in between.
